Child safety standards

Attent has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page describes the standards we commit to, how Attent is designed to minimize risk, and how anyone can report concerns.

1. Our commitment 2. How Attent works and why that matters 3. Prohibited conduct 4. Minimum age 5. Reporting a concern 6. How we respond to reports 7. Cooperation with authorities 8. Review and updates 9. Contact

1. Our commitment

Attent ("we", "us"), operated by Thinkaholic, has zero tolerance for any content, conduct, or use of our service that sexually exploits or endangers children. We comply with applicable laws in the Netherlands and the European Union on combating CSAM and child sexual exploitation, and we support the objectives of Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.

2. How Attent works and why that matters

Attent is a personal relationship reminder app. It is not a social network, not a dating app, and not a communication platform. In practice this means:

  • Attent has no public feeds, profiles, messaging, chat, or discovery surface. Users cannot contact or find other Attent users through the app.
  • Each user's data (contacts, events, notes) is scoped to their own authenticated account and is not readable by anyone else. Firestore security rules enforce this isolation server-side.
  • Attent does not host or display user-generated media (photos, audio, video) to other users. Contact photos are never uploaded.
  • The only outbound communication is a WhatsApp hand-off link that the user themselves taps; Attent does not send messages on the user's behalf.

This design substantially limits the pathways through which CSAE could occur on our service compared to open social or dating platforms. However, we still hold ourselves to the standards below.

3. Prohibited conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Attent and will result in account termination and, where legally required, a report to the relevant authorities:

  • uploading, storing, or transmitting CSAM of any kind;
  • using Attent's notes, reminders, or message-suggestion fields to plan, facilitate, or encourage the sexual exploitation, grooming, or trafficking of a minor;
  • using Attent to identify, target, or contact minors for purposes of sexual exploitation or abuse;
  • impersonating a minor or creating accounts that misrepresent the user's age;
  • any other conduct that violates applicable laws on child protection.

4. Minimum age

Attent is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the user's jurisdiction, whichever is higher). The product is designed for adults managing their own relationship reminders. If we become aware that a child below the minimum age has created an account or provided information, we will take steps to remove it.

5. Reporting a concern

Anyone, whether a user, a parent, a guardian, a researcher, or a member of the public, can report CSAE concerns to us. We accept reports through these channels:

  • Email: contact@thinkaholic.nl (use subject "Child safety report"). This address is monitored and prioritized.
  • In-app: from Settings → Account you can delete your account and associated data at any time. See the deletion page for details.

When submitting a report, please include any information that can help us locate the account or content (for example, a user's sign-in email if known, an approximate date, a description of the conduct). You do not need to include any potentially illegal material itself; a description is sufficient and, in many jurisdictions, safer for you.

You can also report CSAM directly to the appropriate authority. In the Netherlands, the national hotline is Offlimits (EOKM). In the United States, reports can be filed with the NCMEC CyberTipline. Elsewhere in the EU, you can use the INHOPE hotline network. In an emergency, contact local law enforcement.

6. How we respond to reports

We aim to acknowledge reports within three business days and to act on substantiated reports as fast as possible. Our response may include:

  • immediately suspending or terminating the offending account;
  • recursively deleting the account's data from our systems (see the deletion page for scope);
  • preserving relevant records to the extent required by applicable law;
  • reporting to law enforcement and to recognized reporting bodies where legally required or appropriate.

7. Cooperation with authorities

We cooperate with valid legal requests from competent authorities concerning CSAE investigations, in accordance with applicable Dutch, EU, and international law. Where we become aware of CSAM on our service, we will act to remove it and, where legally required, report it to the appropriate authorities.

8. Review and updates

These standards are reviewed at least annually and whenever material changes to Attent or to applicable law require it. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.

9. Contact

The designated point of contact for child safety matters is:

  • Thinkaholic
  • Email: contact@thinkaholic.nl
  • Country: the Netherlands
